FEAR NOT! THE LORD KNOWS!! HE CARES!!
“ ...“Don’t be afraid; just believe.” (Mark 5: 36)
All of us are afraid of something or the other. There are some fears that threaten each and every one of us, at some point or the other in our lives. In Matthew 8:23 onwards, the disciples were terribly frightened when they were caught in a storm as they were crossing the lake by boat. In Exodus 14, the Israelites were terrified to see the Egyptian army coming behind them and the Red Sea roaring in front of them – as there seemed to be no way of escape. When we too are threatened by problems which come upon us one after the other, we are frightened. But let us not be afraid. The Lord who calmed the storm, the Lord who created a way for the
Israelites through the Red Sea, is still in control of our lives. He will deliver us certainly. In Mark 5 we read of Jairus, whose daughter was very sick and dying. When he saw that Jesus was delayed while coming to his house, and when he heard that his daughter was dead, he was afraid. We too may be afraid like Jairus, but let us cheer up. Jesus who gave life to Jairus’ daughter, can perform a miracle even now in our lives. Are we afraid of people who might hurt us, abuse us or persecute us? Jacob was in great fear and distress about meeting his brother Esau in the land of Seir. He was afraid that he and his children and his wives would be killed by Esau. But the Lord gave Jacob favor in the eyes of Esau. What Jacob feared did not happen.
Dear friends, let us never give in to fear. Let us not be afraid of sickness, or financial position, or problems that come through men. Let us be encouraged that our Lord is in control, and that we are always conquerors through Jesus Christ.PRAYER: Almighty God, I am threatened by problems that come against me one after the other like the waves of the sea, and I am afraid of my future. Thank You for the incidents narrated in the Bible that encourages me not to fear. I trust that You will take care of the entire situation. Amen.
