Wednesday, March 05 || JESUS - THE SINLESS LAMB OF GOD

Read : Exodus 12: 1-11

“God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.” - II Corinthians 5: 21

Christ had no sin. When He walked on the earth, He was perfectly righteous. He was spotless, without fault, without evil. He never did anything wrong, never broke any law of God and never deviated in the slightest degree from God’s will. He lived in a sinful world but was never once stained by sin. He faced temptation head on in full strength, all that the devil could throw at Him, but having felt its full weight He never gave in, never even came close to sinning. This is important because if Christ had sinned He could not be our Savior. A sinner could not pay for the sins of another sinner. The sacrifice must be made by One who was without spot or blemish - like the lamb that was slain by the Israelites on the night of Passover in Egypt. (Exodus 12) The Passover lamb pictured Jesus, the “Lamb of God,” who by His sacrificial death would take away the sin of the world. (John 1:29) On the Cross Jesus became the sinless “Sin-Bearer.” He paid the price you and I owed to God, the debt we could never pay. His death satisfied God’s righteous law that sin must be always punished.

Dear friends, the world in its human wisdom does not know God and stumbles over the Cross. (I Corinthians 1:21) But God in His mercy has revealed the depth of His love and of His sacrifice to us. Sometimes we forget how powerful the gospel is and how precious the blood of Jesus is to cleanse the sinner and make him righteous. As we enter into the lenten season of this year, let us take time to ponder these truths and thank God for the great sacrifice He made to save us.
