Wednesday, December 25 || GOD CAME DOWN FROM HEAVEN TO DWELL AMONG US

Read: I Timothy 3: 16

“... They will call Him Immanuel, which means “God with us.” - Matthew 1: 23

We wish you all a Merry Christmas!

Let us rejoice and be glad that the Word Jesus became flesh and made His dwelling place among us. He is called Immanuel, which means “God with us.” Immanuel speaks of the incarnation of Christ, God in the flesh. The name Immanuel emphasizes the nearness of God. Christ’s birth brought the infinite, holy God within the reach of the finite, sinful man. God came to live with us so we could live with Him. The Son of God became the Son of Man that He might change us the sons of men into sons of God. (I John 3:1) Thus we become sons and daughters of God, and we can now draw near with confidence to the throne of grace through our Immanuel. (Hebrew 4:16)

Dear friends, He is our Immanuel, God with us, at every stage of our spiritual life - in our victories, our defeats, our troubles and disappointments, for He has promised to never ever leave us, desert us or forsake us. (Hebrews 13:5)  What we need even more than deliverance from trouble is the sure knowledge that God is our Immanuel in the midst of trouble!  Indeed the wonderful name Immanuel is an antidote for our fear, even as Moses reminded the Israelites declaring, “The Lord is with us.  Do not be afraid ...” (Numbers 14:9)  So when dangers threaten or calamity strikes,  let us be assured of Immanuel’s presence to comfort and calm us.  Let us take confidence by meditating on His name Immanuel.  Indeed, His name is wonderful.  Those who know intimately, personally His name, will trust in Him, for He, the Lord, never forsakes those who seek Him. (Psalm 9:10)

PRAYER: Dear Lord, I thank You that You sent Your Son to this world. Let me have the confidence, comfort and peace that Immanuel, “God is with me.” He never leaves me, forsakes me, abandons me or deserts me, even when everything and everyone turns against me. Amen.
