Wednesday, April 23 || LISTEN WHEN GOD SPEAKS

Read : Acts 8: 5-8; 26-39

God talks with His people in different ways. In the Bible, we read that God spoke in audible ways to His people regardless of their age and the environment in which they lived. He talked with innocent little Samuel when he was sleeping in the house of God, and He even talked with the persecutor Saul while he was traveling to kill God’s people. Even today, God speaks to us through His Word and through His people. In whatever way He speaks, we should obey Him without questioning Him. In Acts 8 we read about Philip. The Lord used him mightily in Samaria. Then suddenly came God’s command - “Go south to the desert road.” Philip instantly obeyed God. God never explained to him about His next move. He did not give him a big program sheet, but just commanded him to go to the desert road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza. As Philip went in obedience to God’s Word, he saw an Ethiopian eunuch, riding in his chariot. The Lord again told Philip, “Go to the chariot and stay near it.” So, Philip ran along with the chariot. He never questioned God. And as he heard the eunuch reading the book of Isaiah, straight away his spirit received the divine message, and led by the Holy Spirit Philip explained the eunuch the meaning of the passage. Thus Philip was able to win his soul for Jesus.

Dear friends, let us yield ourselves and obey the Word of God fully without questioning Him. Though we may not be able to understand His plans in the beginning, we will be able to perceive it as He guides us step by step, and appreciate His goodness in our lives. We will be able to achieve greater exploits for His Kingdom work and win great many souls.
