Read: I Corinthians 6: 12-20
Verse: " And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon's porch." (John 10:23) NKJV
An old sickly man wanted to attend the Christmas service. On reaching the church he found that he could not enter inside as it was overflowing with men and women. He was greatly disappointed. Covering himself with an overcoat, he sat under a tree and shed tears saying, "I may not see another Christmas. I am weak and old. Why should this happen to me Lord?" Just then he felt the touch of a hand, and he heard the voice of Jesus. He said, "Why do you weep? See there is only pomp and show, and worldly splendor inside the church, and they do not want me there. I know your longing and therefore I have come to meet you." Saying this, Jesus laid His hand on him and blessed him.
Dear friends, if we seek Jesus with all our heart, we will find Him. In I Corinthians 6: 18, Paul writes that since our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, we have to flee from sexual immorality. He advises us to honor God with our bodies. So first we should ask the Son of God to cleanse us from all our sins by His precious blood. Secondly, God likes a broken and contrite spirit. (Psalm 51: 17) I Peter 5: 5 says that God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. So let us be holy and humble, and invite our Lord Jesus into our hearts and receive His blessings in our lives.
Prayer: Dear God, You are a God who does not live in big cathedrals or churches where people fail to give You glory and honor. But You are sure to dwell in the poor souls that are holy and humble, and those who earnestly seek You. Help me to seek You with all my heart. Amen.
