Read: Isaiah 54: 14-17
FEAR NOT! THE LORD IS YOUR HELPER!
“... Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward.” (Genesis 15: 1)
When God told us not to fear, He knew we would need help. So firstly, He has given us the Holy Spirit who is our helper and comforter. The Holy Spirit gives us the power to combat fear. II Timothy 1: 7 says, “God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love, and of a sound mind.” Secondly, we as believers live under the covenant of grace that frees us from the bondage of fear. Because we are redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ, we are born again into the family of God, and we have become sons and daughters of God by adoption. (Romans 8:15,16) Our relationship with our heavenly Father becomes very intimate. This gives us a sense of peace and security that drives away all our fears. Thirdly, since God is with us, we will not be afraid. In Isaiah 41:10, the Lord says, “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.” He does not say these words standing far away; He is very close to us, and holds our right hand and says, “Do not fear. I will help you.” What a great comfort! Fourthly, we need not fear or give room to doubts and anxieties because the Lord who has promised is our Maker. He has made us. He has formed us in our mothers’ wombs. He has held us since we were conceived. He has carried us since our birth. Will He then forsake us all of a sudden? He has promised that He will sustain us, carry us, and rescue us even to our old age and grey hairs. (Isaiah 46: 4)
So Dear friends, why should we fear when we have a loving Savior standing beside us to help, strengthen and deliver us? Let us march courageously on and on!PRAYER: Heavenly Father, why should I fear when You stand so very close to me holding my right hand? You have carried me thus far, and You will never, never forsake me now at this crucial time. You are my shield and You will protect me. Thank You for Your faithfulness. Amen.
