SIN BRINGS DISGRACE AND SHAME
“... You will never be put to shame or disgraced to ages everlasting.” - Isaiah 45: 17
Shame, disgrace, humiliation – all these come about when a person sins against God and fellow human beings. When Adam and Eve sinned against God, they were afraid and ashamed to face Him and so they hid themselves among the trees of the garden. (Genesis 3: 8)
Dear friends, let us not fall a prey to Satan’s temptation, and sin against God. Let us always walk in His ways and obey His commandments. The Lord says, in Joel 2: 26, “Never again will MY people be ashamed.” When we are God’s children, He will fight for us and establish righteousness even if we are accused unjustly. All we have to do is confess our sins, humble ourselves and seek His face earnestly. Then certainly He will never let us be ashamed. Secondly, when we trust in Him we will not undergo humiliation. (Psalm 22: 5) Abraham trusted God for twenty-five long years for a child. His body became as good as dead. Yet he did not waver in unbelief regarding the promise of God. He believed that God had the power to do what He had promised. (Romans 4: 20, 21) And the Lord rewarded him by blessing him with Isaac. Thirdly, when we look to the Lord we will not be ashamed. Psalm 34: 5 says, “Those who look to Him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.” Fourthly, when we wait upon the Lord we will never be put to shame. Isaiah 40: 31 says, “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings as eagles; …” Let us trust the Lord, look to Him, and wait upon Him when we are faced with threats and opposition. The Lord will never let us be put to shame.PRAYER: Loving Father, let me not in any way depart from Your laws and commandments and bring disgrace upon me and also to You. But let me be Your child always and trust You, look unto You and wait upon You. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
