Tuesday, February 25 || NEVER LOOK AT YOUR PROBLEMS; LOOK AT JESUS

Many a time when we face great problems – problems that appear to us as mountains – we become overwhelmed and anxious. We even begin to worry whether we will be able to overcome the situation. The reason for all this anxiety is that during a crisis, our focus tends to be on the problem at hand. It would be better for us to turn our eyes to Jesus instead. Once when Peter saw Jesus walking on the lake, he too wished to walk like Him. Jesus granted him his desire. When Peter started walking on the water, he saw the violent wind and the deadful storm, and became afraid. As a result, he began to sink. In contrast to Peter, we read about David in I Samuel, chapter 30. In his absence, the Amalekites had raided Ziklag, the place where his wives, sons and daughters were living. They had burned the entire city and had taken captive David’s two wives and all his children. When David saw this, he was shattered, and he wept aloud till he had no strength left in him to weep. But he did not sink in his problems. Immediately he sought the counsel of the Lord, pursued the Amalekites, defeated them and recovered from them everything that they had captured. “Nothing was missing, young or old, boy or girl, plunder or anything else they had taken.” (I Samuel 30: 19)
Dear friends, are we, like Peter, looking at the magnitude of our problems, losing our faith and doubting the power of God? Or do we, like David, have the mind to rise up from our losses, defeats, hardships and disappointments, and trust the Lord to give us victory? Our Lord Jesus is always with us, to lift us up when we fall. His eyes are always fixed on us. So let us not be anxious. We will surely overcome all our problems and come out triumphantly, glorifying the Lord.
PRAYER: Almighty God, when problems surround me like mighty waters; when they threaten me like huge mountains, let me not become anxious or scared. Give me Your grace to look beyond the problems and look at You who is always ready to lift me up. Help me to trust You at all times. Amen. Honey Drops || Daily Devotion
