ON MISSION WITH GOD
“... May He work in us what is pleasing to Him.” - Hebrews 13: 21
The Lord looked upon the rebellious human race and saw a world festering with need. He saw the brokenness and pain, despair and disease, sin and rebellion. How did He respond? He met the need. How? He sent His only Son to the world to save the perishing souls from eternal destruction. He is a God of love and compassion. That’s not all. He has given us His nature, and He wants us to do His redemptive work. We are not just recipients of His grace. We are His workers, we labor together with Him. All around us are hurting people and sinful lifestyles. The God who sent Jesus into this world to save us, sends us into this world to further His missions. Why? Because He wants to work through us to meet the needs. The God of love, compassion, mercy, peace and hope wants to use us as His instruments of love. This is the picture of the New Testament Church. God has drawn us into partnership with Him to complete His redemptive work. Redemption is not just about getting us right with God, it is about getting us completely “in sync” with Him. We are to reflect Him in every way that He has revealed Himself, and part of our reflection is to have a zealous compassion for those who need Him. He works in us to accomplish His will.
Dear friends, the question is, God has revealed Himself to us, but the issue now is whether He is revealing Himself through us to a world that is in desperate need. Our answer to this question is critical. Am I on mission with God?
PRAYER: Dear Lord, because of Your love for us, You gave Your only Son to the world to redeem us from sin. Now that I am redeemed, let me complete Your redemptive work. I pray that through me You will be revealed to the desperate world. Let me be on mission with You, Lord. Amen.
