Thursday, November 28 || THANK YOU GOD FOR THESE TRIALS

Read: James 1: 3-4

“Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life ...”  - James 1:12

Sometimes, when we face severe trials, we become confused as to why God allows them to happen in our lives.  We should remember that God never does anything without a purpose.  Firstly, He may allow difficulties in our lives to draw us near to Christ.  As long as things are running along smoothly, most of us are complacent.  But, when problems start and things get rough, we come to accept that we are not able to straighten them out and we draw near Christ for the solution.  Secondly, God allows trials to draw us nearer to His Word and to prayer.  He allows trials, perhaps  to keep us from growing cold and straying from His Word.  Let us consider this – when does the Bible become more precious to us?  When the testing comes, where do we want to turn?  Magazines or news papers do not help.  But when we look into the Bible, God directs us to His Word from which we derive great comfort.  Not only that; our prayer would become such a formality asking God, “Bless me, give me this, give me that”  and so on, if it were not for trials and problems.

Dear friends, remember that God allows trials in your life because He has a purpose, and not to make you miserable.  It is to teach you as His child.  We learn from problems.  Only when we come out of our trials we would be able to say with authority, “God was certainly with me.  He brought me through times of great need and I am convinced that he can bring you through your problem too.”  So let us not be afraid or frustrated.  Let us thank God for these trials that He has allowed in our lives.  Let us trust that through these we will be blessed but not be crushed. Hallelujah!

PRAYER: Dear God, thank You for the severe trial that You have allowed in my life to make me know You and Your Word more intimately now. I derive great comfort in Your Word and in Your presence. When I come out of my trials I will surely testify Your greatness. Give me Your grace. Amen.
