Saturday, January 25 || GOD HONORS PERSEVERANCE

“Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial ...” - James 1:12

Perseverance is persistence, continuance, steadfast, staunch, constant determination, stop at nothing quality that is invaluable in the Christian experience.  Opposition, obstacles and many other hindrances may come our way. Thus the need for perseverance.   One classical example of perseverance in the Old Testament is that of Noah.  Before God sent the flood, He instructed Noah to build an ark so that he and his family could be saved from the disaster, because Noah lived righteously before God.  The ark was to be 450 feet long and 75 feet wide and 45 feet high.  Modern-day marine experts confirm that these dimensions were ideal for a vessel built for such a purpose.  Such a gigantic task would take a very long time, especially with little or no assistance available.  The Bible does not tell us how long it took.  But some Bible commentators say it would have taken even 100 years.  Just imagine how much mockery Noah would have endured from the wicked people of his days.  To suffer for many years and still stick to his task, certainly requires perseverance.  But Noah persisted and was rewarded for this. He was preserved from God’s judgment that came upon the wicked, rebellious people.

Dear friends, do not quit half-way through in your efforts. Do not be bothered about ridicule and mockery. Obey God and keep doing His will. He will exalt you in the eyes of your enemies.

PRAYER: Almighty God, I try to live a godly life, I try to testify Your goodness to the non-believers, but I fail miserably. Let me not become frustrated, but give me the determination to keep going on with perseverance even when I face ridicule and opposition. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
