Saturday, January 18 || FORGET NOT ALL HIS BLESSINGS

“Pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.” - Ephesians 6: 18

Frank Laubach was a missionary who took literally the verse in the Bible that says, “Pray without ceasing,” (I Thessalonians 5: 17) and accomplished this by using what he called “fractional prayers.” What he meant by that was, that every day he saved little blocks of time which could have been spent otherwise as “prayer periods,” e.g. while waiting for the bus. Instead of standing aimlessly, he filled these moments with prayer. In a taxi slowly making way through traffic, he spent the time thanking God for as many things as he could think of.

Dear friends, we spend so much of time waiting at the doctor’s clinic or at the railway station or at the airport. During this waiting period, one phrase is sure to keep running through your mind – “What a waste of time!” The next time we are stranded somewhere, let us remember Frank and start praying fractional prayers. It may be a ten-minute prayer, or a half-an-hour prayer, but it certainly brings blessings.  God blesses the person for whom we are praying and He blesses us for being prayer warriors. If we start praying, we will be surprised to see the Lord putting a burden in our heart to pray for people who are really in need and we will become channels of blessing.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, keep me aware of all the little blocks of free time during my day. Let me learn to fill them with Your thoughts. Show me the people who are in need. Give me the burden to intercede for them and bring down Your blessing upon them. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
