Read: Ephesians 3: 17-19
“God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, ...” - John 3: 16
The world is looking and longing for love. As human beings, we need to love and be loved. But the problem is that we are looking for love at the wrong places. Jesus revealed to Nicodemus the profound insight that love is found in the heart of God. God created man to have fellowship with Him and to love Him. But man sinned against God, as a result of which his relationship with God was severed. Since God is a loving Father, He wanted man to reconcile with Him. He wanted to forgive all his sins and to save him from judgment. And so, He gave his one and only Son – the Son whom He loved – the heaven’s most precious Treasure – for the mankind – for us – for you and for me. The Lord gave everything He had in order to offer us eternal life. The Lord did not send His Son to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. (John 3:17) He sent His Son to die on the Cross and to shed His blood so that whoever believes in Him will receive mercy and be pardoned. What a great love!
Dear friends, all other love may fail but not God’s love. Do not doubt His love. You may see bad things happening in your life, you may witness injustice, unkindness, misery and suffering in the society. We may not know the reason to all these. But one thing we can know for sure is that God loves us. How do we know that? By just looking at the Cross where He proved His love for the world that mocks Him, despises Him and scorns Him. Let us look at the Cross and see the blood of Jesus. There is no better way by which He could show His love - Love which alone is true and unfading, love we can never experience and enjoy elsewhere.PRAYER: Heavenly Father, the love shown by others to me vary at different situations to different degrees. But, Your love never fades. It is pure and eternal. Help me to look at the Cross to understand Your immeasurable love for me. In Jesus, name I pray. Amen.
