Saturday, February 08 || FIRST SACRIFICE, THEN SONG OF PRAISE!

Read : I Samuel 2: 1-10
“Then Hannah prayed and said: “My heart rejoices in the Lord. ...”- I Samuel 2: 1
In the last verse of I Samuel 1, we read that Hannah dedicated her son Samuel to the Lord. Immediately after that in I Samuel 2 first verse, she offered a song of praise and worship to the Lord. Hannah’s first prayer in I Samuel 1:10 came out from her great distress, whereas this prayer came because of her great joy. Hannah sang because she could give her son to the service of the Lord. How amazing! Firsly sacrifice, then song. Hannah had prayed years in advance for a child. Yet when God gave her a son, she did not hesitate to give her beloved son back to the Lord. Not only that, she praised God for His answer to her anguished prayer by offering a God-glorifying song of spiritual victory. That Hannah can rejoice even while parting with her little son proves her godly priorities - she loved God and trusted Him more than she loved her son. Throughout history, men and women of faith have been characterized to give anything they had back to God. Abraham was willing to sacrifice his own son, trusting God to fulfill His promise. Moses’ parents placed him in a basket in the Nile, trusting God to protect him from Pharaoh’s wrath. Each of these people acknowledged that all they possessed belonged to God. And God rewarded their sacrifice with greater blessings.
Dear friends, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise, because praise helps us focus on the glory of the Lord and not on our problems. It ultimately leads us to victory and jubilation.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, Hannah celebrated Samuel who was the answer to her special prayer with joyful psalm of praise. She fulfilled her vow by giving her son for Your service. Let me be willing to sacrifice those that cost me much, trusting that You will reward me with greater blessings. Amen. Honey Drops || Daily Devotion
