Saturday, April 05 || A Heart for Helping Children (2)

Read : Deuteronomy 6:6-9

“Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him.” - Psalm 127:3

Today we shall continue to meditate on what the Bible teaches us about the responsibility we have toward children.

Third, Providing Protection: In Psalm 91:11, we read, "For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways." This verse reminds us that God offers protection to His children, both physically and spiritually. We can reflect God’s love by ensuring that children are safe and protected, whether in our homes, communities, or schools. Fourth, Teaching and Encouraging: Deuteronomy 6:6-7 encourages us to teach our children God’s Word daily: "These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up." We have a duty to teach children about God, His love, and His ways. This teaching happens not only in formal settings but in everyday moments of life.

Dear friends, ask yourself, "How can I help children today?" Perhaps there is a child in your life who needs guidance, comfort, or simply someone to listen to them. Remember, children learn by the example we set. You can teach them about kindness, patience, and love by showing those qualities yourself. Whether it’s helping a child with schoolwork, spending time with them, or praying for them, there are endless ways to serve and support the children around you. As you reflect on God’s love for children, remember that He calls us to be His hands and feet in their lives. When we help children, we are also honouring God and fulfilling His commands. Let’s cherish and care for the children He has placed in our lives, just as He does for us.
