Ronald had resisted the idea of cell phones for years. But that afternoon, he was thankful that his wife had gifted him a phone for Christmas, because his car tyre went flat in the middle of the highway and there was nothing to be seen except a long stretch of road for miles. Unfortunately, the spare tyre was also in no usable condition. Sitting there all alone, he rang up to the nearest garage and the people from roadside assistance came quickly and fixed the problem in minutes! Prayer is like a cell phone with God’s number on speed dial. Recharging our relationship with Him does not require a mobile charger. The moment we say, “Lord,” He hears us and answers us. In Jeremiah 33: 3 He says, “Call to Me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.” And in Psalm 50: 15 He says, “Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honour Me.”
Dear friends, having such a marvelous gadget, prayer, in our hands, how often do we really make use of it? Many of us press its buttons in the mornings and nights, but during the whole day it is idle, useless and jobless! If only we would switch it on as often as possible and commune with our heavenly Father, our days will be filled with excitement. Someone once said, “When the outlook is bad, try the uplook.” So why don’t we switch on the prayer phone, talk to God, listen to His answers and follow His guidance?PRAYER: Heavenly Father, Prayer - what an amazing gadget You have given to me. I have wasted my days not realizing its power and availability. Let me switch it on as often as possible and enjoy communing with You all through the day. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
