Read: Jeremiah 29: 11-14
"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you..." (Jeremiah 29: 11)
The living God has a plan for each one in this world. Our lives are ruled not by chance or coincidence or fate, but by the gracious providence of God. There is a famous song Que Sera, Sera .... whatever will be will be. It is a lovely song, but so far as the Word of God is concerned it is just not true! Our God is not a God, who like a clockmaker constructs some intricate mechanism, winds it up, sets it on the shelf, then just lets it tick, and then goes off. Neither does the Bible picture a God who controls every details of our lives, or one who puts a protective cocoon around us to keep us from bad things. Instead the Bible describes a living God who has a plan for our lives but works out that plan in such a marvelous way that our human freedom is preserved. God is a loving Father, who shares our joys and heartaches, but does not manipulate or control all that happens to us.
Dear friends, God not only has a plan for us, but let us be encouraged that in everything that happens to us, good or bad, God is at work. We may not understand why sicknesses and financial breakdowns come, or why we sometimes fail in spite of our best efforts. But the Bible is unanimous in its conviction that God is at work for good in everything that happens to us. There may be many times in our experience when we question where God is in all that happens to us. But this much is certain. We can always rejoice, because God is at work; He weaves it all into a grand design and in the end we who trust in God will be triumphant. We will not be victims but victors.Prayer: Dear Lord, during times of great distress, let me not feel bewildered that You have abandoned me or that You do not care for me. You are a loving Father who watches me in my ups and downs, and You are weaving all things for my good and in the end I will come out victoriously. Thank You for this assurance. Amen.
