Monday, April 07 || OUR TIMES ARE IN GOD’S HANDS

Read : Ephesians 5: 15-17

“My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of Him who sent me and to finish His work.” - John 4: 34

Time is a gift. We cannot make more of it. We can only receive it and be faithful stewards in our use of it. Let us consider the life of Jesus. Think of the pressure He faced - He had crowds of people following Him for miracles, people pressing Him with questions and He had lots to do. But Jesus did not do everything everybody expected Him to do. The one rule of His life was to do the will of the Father. He was a man with man’s limitations - limitations of time and space. But He always did those things that pleased the Father, and fulfilled all the work His Father had given Him to do. (John 8:29, 17:4).

Dear friends, there is a lesson for us here. We need to pray daily, “Lord, please give me discernment to know what is Your work and what is not.” Concerning all the demands that come to us daily, we need to say constantly, “Lord, I don’t know whether to say yes or no to this. Give me wisdom.” God does not want us to be frantic or frustrated or hassled. Jesus said in Matthew 11:28-29, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me.” But we are not humble enough to lay down our burdens on Him. Remember, one thing that is not on God’s list for us to do is worry. Worry is fruitless. God has given us only this minute. Let us not worry about things of tomorrow and neglect the thing God has assigned for us now. Let us give priority to sit at God’s feet and know His will. We may spend much time for others, doing good deeds and so forth, but do we spend quality time with God daily? Let our times be in His hands, not ours!
