POUR OUT YOUR COMPLAINT TO THE RIGHT PERSON
“I pour out before Him my complaint; before Him I tell my trouble.” (Psalm 142: 2)
Most of us have the tendency to complain even about trivial things. Consider what we achieve when we complain about something to someone. It only makes us bitter and not better in any way. But when we take the complaints to the right persons, we would solve the issues. In Numbers 27, we read about the five daughters of Zelophehad. They had a problem. Their father had died in the
wilderness before the Israelites reached the Promised Land. Zelophehad did not have any sons to inherit his portion of the land and the law did not provide for women to receive the son’s portion instead. Consequently, his five daughters, not having any male member in their immediate family, were left out completely without any piece of land. Rather than complaining about this to others, they approached the entrance of the Tent of Meeting and stood before Moses, Eleazar the priest, the leaders and the whole assembly, and presented their petition for an inheritance to them. When Moses took their case to God, He in turn replied, “If a man dies and leaves no son, turn his inheritance over to his daughter.” (V. 8) Had they simply whined and complained to everyone in the multitude rather than bringing it to those in authority, they might not have obtained their inheritance.
Dear friends, if we have something to complain, let us forward our complaints to the right person. Above all, let us seek the Lord’s counsel and His guidance.PRAYER: Dear Lord, how often I waste my time and energy by complaining about trivial things to everyone I meet. Change my attitude, Lord. Let me place my problems at Your feet and seek Your guidance. Let me approach the right person to solve my problems. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
