Monday, March 31 || BE WARNED BY PHARAOH!

Read : Exodus 10: 21-29

“... Today if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts ...” - Hebrews 3:7

“God shows Himself to each individual according to his character,” wrote Charles Spurgeon, and no individual in Scripture illustrates this truth better than the king of Egypt. For months, Moses and Aaron had dealt with him, but the king was unwilling to obey God’s command or even acknowledge God’s authority. The water courses in Egypt had been turned into blood, slimy frogs had invaded the land and swarms of gnats had irritated, but even then Pharaoh had refused to bend. Before sending seven of the ten plagues, God warned Pharaoh what was going to happen, but he refused to believe the Word of God and persisted in disobedience. The fact that each plague occurred just as God described it at the exact time, should have convinced Pharaoh and his officials that the God of Israel was in control of these spectacular events. Even then they failed to see that the hand of the Lord was against the whole nation of Egypt. So what did God do? He sent the most terrible plague which brought the death of every first born son in Egypt, even the son of Pharaoh.

Dear friends, the hardening of Pharaoh’s heart is a warning to all of us. If our sinful heart does not respond by faith to God’s Word, it cannot be transformed by the grace of God. Instead it will become harder. The harder it becomes, the longer it resists God’s truth and becomes more disobedient. So let us be careful not to rebel against God even in small matters.
