“Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him.” - Psalm 127:3
Children are a gift from God, and He calls us to care for them with love and wisdom. The Bible speaks often about children, their value, and how we should treat them. Today and tomorrow, let’s reflect on the importance of helping children, guided by the Word of God.
We will look at Psalm and other Scriptures to inspire our hearts to serve and care for children. God’s Word reminds us of the preciousness of children. Psalm 127:3 says, children are a "heritage" and "reward" from the Lord. This shows us just how important children are to God and how He values them. As followers of Christ, we are called to treat children with care and honour, always seeking their well-being and offering them guidance and love. The Bible also teaches us about the responsibility we have toward children:
First, Guiding Children: Proverbs 22:6 says, "Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it." This verse teaches us the importance of guiding children in their faith and helping them grow in wisdom. By helping children understand God’s love, we are helping them start their journey of faith.
Second, Showing Compassion: Jesus showed great compassion toward children. In Matthew 19:14, He said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."
Dear friends, Jesus welcomed children with open arms, showing us the importance of including and loving them. Our hearts should be open to children, welcoming them, and making space for them in our lives.
PRAYER: Father God, thank You for the precious gift of children. We recognise that they are a heritage from You, and we are grateful for the opportunity to care for them. Help us to guide them in Your truth, to show them love and compassion. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
