25 Sep 2024 Read: James 3: 13-18
Verse: " Blessed are those who find wisdom, ... for she is more profitable than silver." (Proverbs 3: 13,14)
Wisdom may be defined as the ability to do the right thing at the right time, to say the right word at the right time, and to make the right decision at the right time. In today's text, we read about two kinds of wisdom. The first one is earthly, unspiritual and of the devil. The second one is the wisdom from heaven which is pure, peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Let us eagerly desire to get the wisdom that comes from heaven, which is the wisdom of God. Why should we have the wisdom of God?
First of all, wisdom gives us joy. A person who lacks the wisdom of God will be filled with fear, doubt, worry and sorrow. Secondly, a man with God's wisdom will have honor. (Proverbs 3:16) Jesus Christ had more wisdom, more than any man who even walked on the face of this earth. Every time He opened His mouth to speak, people were astonished and amazed to hear words of wisdom flowing out. Thus He was honored among the people. Thirdly, the wisdom of God will bring riches. (Proverbs 3:16) King Solomon, the wisest king, was also the richest man who lived in this world. Fourthly, a man of wisdom will have long life, (Proverbs 3:16) and above all, the wise will be able to win souls or in other words, those who win souls are wise. (Proverbs 11:30) Proverbs 3:15 says, "Wisdom is more precious than rubies, and that all the things we desire cannot be compared to it." So, let us eagerly desire to be filled with the wisdom of God each and every day.
Prayer: Dear Lord, fill me with Your wisdom today and everyday so that I will be able to do the right thing, speak the right word, and make the right decision always. Let me handle my day to day situations with Your wisdom so that my life will be joyful and peaceful. In Jesus' name Amen.
